Kulalau Trail

Our major hike on Kauai was to be a 2 mile trek along the Na Pali Coast to a beach, then a 2 mile trek inland to Hanakapiai Falls. With all the rain, it made the going difficult. Some parts of the trail were inches deep in mud, while others were slick from all of the people. Steve had a seat twice because of the slipery conditions. We made it to the beach in a reasonable time after crossing a sizable river. That river had a rope across it. We had lunch at the beach, and headed inland. After another mile, we came to a raging stream -- normally a small creek and had to turn back. On the way back, we stopped at Kee Beach to clean the mud off ourselves, and then met Jen & Mike at the "blue room", a wet cave, with an underwater tunnel to a second wet cave. Once you swam into the 2nd cave, the only light came in through the water and everything had a blue tinge.
