Ollantaytambo Ruins & Town

Ollantaytambo Fortress is where the Inca defeated the Spanish in the mid 1500s. The ruins are situated at the intersection the Urubamba (Sacred) Valley and Vilcabmaba Valley. The main are of the fortress is accessed via steep stone steps where the temple of the Sun resides at the top. There are many examples of Inca stone work, trapezoidal niches and windows, and incredible views of the Sacred Valley.
