Temple of Hatshepsut

The mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut was built to commemorate her achievements and to serve as a funerary Temple for her, as well as a sanctuary of the God, Amun Ra. Hatshepsut was the first female Pharoh and often dressed as a man so as to hide her true nature.

The temple reflects clear ideas about the serious conflict between Hatshepsut, and her nephew and son in law, Tuthmosis III, since many of her statues were destroyed. The followers of Tuthmosis III damaged most of her cartouches, after the mysterious death of the queen.
